Since the period 1 August 2009 - 31 July 2010 - wine with a protected designation of origin (PDO) also covers the formerly applied quality wine. Definitions of produce for wine products have been laid down in Council Regulation (EC) No 479/2008 of 29 April 2008 on the common organisation of the market in wine, amending Regulation (EC) No 1493/1999 of 17 May 1999.
